Bradley Clarke] was born in SC about 1818. Major in the Army of the Republic of TXexas 18 May 1843. Married Rebecca Jane Hinton [(1818 SC - 1871 TX) widow of William Capps] 9 November 1841 in Robertson Co., TX. Children: James Lewis Whitaker (1842-1862); Eliza Jane Whitaker (1844-1901); Mary Worth Whitaker (1846-1920); Martha Elizabeth Whitaker (1849-1929); Thomas Clarke Whitaker (1851-1855); Olive Whitaker (1853-1855); Annie Whitaker (1856-1942); Henry McKenzie Whitaker (1858-1890). Pleasant Clarke Whitaker was shot & killed by his brother-in-law Bill Hinton on 27 december 1859. Serving as Sheriff of Falls Co., TX at time of death. Known siblings of Pleasant C.
