Hi, I am trying to find any information I can on my Whitaker line. Here is all I have: My grandfather was Ben Whitaker (now deceased), born in Hindman KY in Jan 1920. His father was also named Benjamin. He was killed in a coal mine explosion about 2 months before my grandfather was born (my grandfather's mother was Viola Slone from Knott Co. KY) My great-grandfather Benjamin was born 2/15/1899 and was the son of Susan McIntyre Whitaker and unknown Whitaker. The reason I say that my great-great-grandfather is unknown is because I only have his nickname or several variations of his nickname (it is either Lije, Litt, or Levi or something close to those names). In the 1900 soundex, it lists him as Litt (or it appears to read that way), born Oct 1868, wife Susan, born Jan 1877, daughter Victoria, born 1892, daughter Alice, born 1894 and my great-grandfather Benjamin, born 1899. I have been unable to find any info on my great-great-grandfather. What I would like to do is determine who his parents were, and in so doing, tie him in to the Whitakers of the Letche! ! r Co.
