You are of course correct, Mark Whitaker Sr. of Baltimore County MD., sons Thomas born June 13, 1712 and Mark Jr. born Feb. 15, 1743 were by his wife Catherine Teag or Teague. Catherine died Nov. 15, 1717 and Mark Sr. then married Elizabeth Empson and had the last 4 children you name. Thanks. One other tidbit, looks like Mark Sr might have been using a variation of traditional naming patterns: Sons in order: Thomas, Mark, James, and Empson. Second son after self and fourth after wife's surname, could mean Mark's Father was a Thomas and his Grandfather was a James Whitaker. Two daugthers named Elizabeth might indicate Mark Sr.'s mother's name was Elizabeth, particularly since eldest daughter born long before he married Elizabeth Empson. Richard: You're starting to type like I sometimes do!! Check your dates. Thomas birthday is correct. Mark, Jr b 16 Feb 1715/16 and m. 6 Feb 1744, (Abigail Johnson(Johnston). I like your thinking on the old naming patterns. Have corresponded with others who continually try to tie our Mark, Sr. in with the other group of Whitaker's prominent in the Baltimore area during that time.
