Have you run into my Whitaker's in England? My great grandmother is Mary Elizabeth WHITAKER b. 10 Nov 1854 in Chorton Cum Hardy Lancashire d. 28 Nov 1934 in the USA, she married William Henry SELLEN (SELLARS) b. 1848 in Stretford in Lancashire d. 1887 in Pemberton or Wigan in Lancashire. They were married on 22 Feb 1874 in Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire. There fathers were James WHITAKER, a grocer and Charles SELLEN a paper maker. They had two children in England, Edith Gertrude b. 21 Mar 1878 and John Henry b.8 Nov 1880 and one child in the USA, Charles Lenard b. 1887/1888. Mary Elizabeth came to the USA immediately after her husbands death and delivered her 3rd child. I need to know more of the WHITAKER's, Mary Elizabeth's family. She had two brothers, John and Richard and two sisters, Mrs CHADWICK and Mrs RIGBY. I don't know their 1st names. Mrs CHADWICK died 23 Oct 1919 and left one son, Ernest and he was married and had at least one child, he lived at 143 Westbourne in Bolton in Lancashire. Mrs RIGBY lived without her husband at 999 Blackburn Road, Sharples, Bolton in Lancashire and she had several children. Richard had two sons, James WHITAKER who lived in Bolton and William Shaw WHITAKER who lived in Leeds. This is information from a Solicitor in Bolton to my great grandmother.
