Hi, Susan I saw your message about Lucinda Whitaker. I am descended from her sister, Lydia, b. March 22, 1822 and her husband (and cousin) Abraham Whitaker (son of Edmund Whitaker and Dicy Safely). Their daughter, Frances Sythia Whitaker, b. Dec. 10, 1842, is my gggrandmother. We have reports of Frances being either 1/2 or 1/4 Cherokee Indian, and a picture of her in which she certainly looks Native American. Have you heard of any Cherokee blood in the Whitakers? I haven't been able to find any info about who this might have come from. I know back then many tried to hide their Native American heritage, and pass for 'white' if possible. Does Lucinda show signs of this heritage in her picture? I would love to also have any information you are willing to send about the Whitaker family. I also have our information, from another 'cousin' as descended from Robert Whitaker and Mary Hall. I have information about Frances's descendants, if you need it. Thanks, Joyce Dressel
