Interested in your reference to PA. My ggrandfather James Degroff Whitaker born 1843 may have been born in PA . That is what he put on the 1900 census for himself and for his childrens father's birthplace. He marriedCivil war discharge in NY states birthplace of Saratoga Springs, NY. He married Lydia J. Kelley in Marshall co. Ind. , migrated to Nebraska, Ill. and then Michigan.
