    3. Hi Patrick, Thanks so much for your reply. Up until now, no other Whitakers I've contacted knew anything about a Cherokee connection. Any info you come across would be greatly appreciated. You mentioned grad school - did you know if you're part Native American, you can apply for a scholarship? I think it's up to 1/32, but not sure. But you have to be able to name the tribe, ancestors, etc. When you have more time, I'd love to exchange information with you - I can send you Frances's descendants, if you don't already have them. 3. Joyce! :-) You sent that to me instead of Patrick! :-) Also, I have a few more STOLTZ names I've found in some cemeteries for you. Yes, I can't recall now who it was that told me about the Cherokee connection, or the likelihood that of that occuring in our lines. But, I believe they said it was William HOWARD, Sara Elizabeth HOWARD's father who was Cherokee. Sarah was married to Jonathan WHITAKER II, and was the mother of Lucinda and Lydia WHITAKER. Lydia ended up marrying her first cousin, Abram WHITAKER, who was the son of Jonathan's brother, Edmund. In fact, their marriage eventually ended up in me having my maternal grandmother (Julila WHITAKER) and maternal grandfather (Escar Floyd PATTERSON) who had the same grandmother!! So, I'm descended from both Jonathan II and Edmund. :-) Weird, no? I've got information from Susan GALLS and also Nancy REAMS. Might you have anything new to share?
