Could anyone help in my search for info. regarding my g. grandfather George WHITAKER. All I know is that he was a horse trainer and publican who was born in Manchester. (Maybe Salford Manchester/Lancaster?) He had a son Edgar (1894-1952 b. Salford Manchester) who married Flora TWIGG (1909-1974 Sheffield). They resided and raised a family in Derbyshire and both died in that city. I recently received an e-mail from Gilly who was kind enough to search the 1881 census and she found; George Whittaker 26 M Salford, Lancashire, England Publican Dwelling 97 Ellor Street Salford, Lancashire, England Other members in the household were Servants. I do not know if the George Whittaker/Whitaker is mine! Is there a 1891 census available that would show George Whitaker with a wife and family. This may help me relate the 2 names. Any help appreciated. susan
Hi Jeff, Do you have a birth cert for Edgar as this will give you his mothers maiden name, and then perhaps you could find a marriage between her and George, which may provide a better location than just Manchester area. Hope this helps Gilly ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Vandervet" <jsv@perigee.net> To: <WHITAKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 25, 2001 3:57 PM Subject: [WHITAKER] Whitaker-England > > > Could anyone help in my search for info. regarding my g. grandfather > George > WHITAKER.
