Hey Cousin Bob! I didn't think you forgot me--there are just so many of us and we seem to be multiplying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anne-W-M and I have been talking about getting together but haven't managed yet--even with living in the same town : ) I don't have much data compiled yet--I'm sure you have all that I have, as Anne has been the source of most of it. You did send me the photo of Abram's & Lydia's graves; have you found one's of Andrew Jackson & Hannah Bass Whitaker, or Edmund & Dicey? would love to have those. I finished my M.Ed. in May--3.917 GPA. We always knew those Whitakers were smart : ) I am job hunting now for a position in higher education. I want to eventually teach, but that will probably take a doctorate. IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS CONTACTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.--Privately at patrick4u@mindspring.com So that's the scoop from here. Henry Martin's descendants have a reunion every year the Sunday afternoon following Labor day. The last couple of years it has been at a Methodist Church near Randleman. I don't know of any of the family on this listserve--but there may be. I will quit now before I load everyone's inbox. Take care Bob! Patrick
Yes, I've got those as well. They are buried at Old Pine Hill Community Church, which is on Hwy 268 west, about 3 miles west of Pilot Mtn. Church is on the left before you cross the Ararat River. Will send the photos of both to you off line. If you need others, let me know since I take as many photos of WHITAKER graves as I find, regardless of where they are. Gotta keep KODAK in business. Also, the information I had said the Cherokee connection was via the HOWARD line. William HOWARD's daughter, Sarah Elizabeth HOWARD, who married Jonathan WHITAKER II. One of their children was Lucinda HOWARD. This is for all the WHITAKER list members: I located a grave of a William A. WHITAKER, 6-11-1814 to 9-20-1890, buried at Brick Yard Cemetery, Chatham County, GA (Savannah area). It was behind a grave of Susie WALLER whose name was hand carved and there were no dates. Does anyone have information on this WHITAKER? Or, possible need a copy of the photo? BTW Patrick, what was your concentration for the M.Ed?
