Hello, cousins, especially Marie, Don't tell me someone else is looking for a Clark Whittaker with Vermont ancestry! I believe there were about eight men named Clark Whittaker in the same generation, in the eastern part of New York State. I have been searching for my grandmother's paternal grandfather, Clark Whittaker, born in 1804/1811 in Hamilton Co., N.Y., of parents born in Vermont. He died after 1887, the date of a land purchase. I believe the Sylvanus Whittaker who claimed the next lot to his in Edinburg was his brother. My Clark married Margaret Swartwout, born 8 Mar 1815 in Saratoga Co., N.Y., died 1 July 1898 in Edinburg, Saratoga Co., N.Y. She was the daughter of Abraham Jacobsz Swartwout and Hannah (___). Clark and Margaret had these children: 1. Hannah E. Whittaker: bn 1840/1841 PA (1870 census); bur Edinburg Cem., Saratoga, NY; marr abt 1865/70 ___ Johnson. 2. Huldah A. Whittaker: bn 1842 Saratoga Co., NY; bur Edinburg Cem, Saratoga, NY 3.
