    3. Dear Nancy: How strange! Came across your last message to me re our Clarks and intended to reply tonite - when lo and behold, there is one from you. You certainly have an impressive lineage and, no, my father was not Sylvanus, but Sylvester S. (stands for Sagendorph which was his grandfather's family name). I recently visited our National Archives in Pittsfield, MA, and found Clark H., Catherine and Sylvester, living in Binghamton, Broome Co., NY. This Sylvester was my grandfather, as the date was 1870. Clark, again, of VT, she NJ and they had been living in Bradford Co, PA.. Sylvester's wife's name is all but ineligible, but looks like maybe "OCA?, and the children were Fremont (or Tremont),Adelburt and Susie. Old handwriting is so hard to decipher. And that is all I know until I make another trip to Pittsfield, but at least it is a start. My office career started in GE,Bldg.1, Schenectady, as Secretary to the Manager of Plant Personnel. Two transfers later, to Johnson City, NY and then to Phila.,PA., ended up big time with top management. Now am happily retired with nothing but good memories of dear old GE and trying to find ancestors. So far, am confirmed descendant of Knickerbocker,Whitney, Ashley, Duytscher, Sagendorph families. Wouldn't you think I could at least find a few Whitakers?? Let me know if and when you find what the "H" in Clark's name stands for. MarieWhitakerSheldon
