Good Morning, Its been a while since I've posted and I've found enough information to go back one more generation on my husbands Whittaker/Whitaker families. According to family lore, at least one of these lines was English. The families were in Caroline Co. Va. in the late 1800s but I cannot find them there in the 1880 census - they show up the first time in 1900. There are two lines, possibly three, in the family, so you're not seeing double. My husbands grandparents were: Lonnie Whitaker b. 1898 and Esther Whittaker b. 1900 Lonnie's line from his father to grandfather is: Lonnie Whitaker b. 1898 James Edward Whittaker b. 1869 m. Hazie R. Whitaker (d/o Mary) in Caroline Co. 1895. Joseph Whittaker b. ca. 1849 m. Sarah R. (place and date unknown) Esther's line from her father to grandfather is: Esther Whittaker b. 1900 Robert Lee Whittaker Jr. b. 1869, Caroline Co., m. Ella Nora Marshall 1888 Caroline Co. Va.
