since i am new to your list this digest very confusing in todays issue. i am researching pa whitakers ca. early 1800. particularly, abraham whitaker of mifflin. i am also interested in knowing if anyone knows who simon whitaker of gill hall is? he claims to be grandson of james and catherine and is the mail carrier to peter's twp. for years in the late 1800. i have been unable to find out who his parents are and how he fits in. would like to work with any one familiar with western pa whitakers. bonnie and tom

Well, here we go again --- there were at least six messages on the Whitaker-D-Request page, for 7-13-2001 with the subject line all the same. That subject line was ""Joseph Whittaker/1755, born at sea""!!! My problem, and yours, is that not one of those messages was about Joseph, but about entirely other names, which did not seem to be tied in to Joseph in any way. Why is it so difficult to put your surname you are asking about in the Subject line??? Seems obvious to me that if you want a comment from some knowledgeable genealogy person about Suzie Whittaker, you would put Suzie in the subject line, not some fellow named Joseph!!!
