Looking for information or links to Whittakers in Boston and Dedham, MA in 1600-1700's. >From the IGI, I have John Whitache married to Elizabeth with a daughter Sarah bca 1675 or 6-12-1660 in Boston. Sarah married William Young on 10-11-1694 in Boston. John Whittaker married Mary and had James, born 3-9-1724 in Boston, and Mary, born 6-13-1727 in Boston. I don't see any connection in what you gave me. You did not list any dates so I don't know where they would fit in with what I have. The first place I have found my whitakers is in Saratoga Co , NY in 1813. Sylvanus Whitaker was born, m. Aphia Degroff. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marie B. Hi - I know very little about my Whitaker lineage and the little I do know has not been verified, so not sure if correct or not. Right now, it seems to be Abraham-5, Jonathan-4, Abraham-3. Abraham-2, Abraham-1. The Whitakers I am researching are Sylvester S. Whitaker, my grandfather who m. Adelia (Sagendorpf) Whitaker, my paternal grandmother. Abraham-1 m.(1) Betsey White and had Clark, who m. Catherine Beardsley, their child Sylvester S. The scene of this opus is the area of Bradford Co., PA and Binghamton, Broome Co., NY. If you think you might have something to contribute to this sketchy lineage, would be glad to supply with all that I know.
RE: Above Subject Correction:Last sentence, last para: Should read: birthplace Binghamton, NY. father's name Sylvester Whitaker, m. 1) Clara Best, 2) Lillian (M)?. Thank you. Marie Whitaker Sheldon
Margie: Sorry, but know nothing about Clark Whitaker except that I think he is my g-grandfather. Will be doing much research on him (hardly know where to start), but at this point, do not think he is of your family. All I know is he m. Catherine Beardsley and had son, Sylvester, which is near but far from Sylvester. Also, I believe his father to be Abraham-5, who m.Betsey White who is Clark's mother. Again, ?? Try me again in a few weeks and I may be able to tell you more if you are still looking. Good Luck!! Marie Whitaker Sheldon
Patti: Have just found my Clark Whitaker but do not believe there is any connection, If I find one, will advise. Good luck Marie WhitakeSheldon PS = I used Google

BlankPatti, my ancestor, Sylvanus Whitaker,b 1813, lived in Edinburgh, Saratoga Co, NY in 1820s married Aphia Degroff. His son, James Degroff was my ggrandfather. There was thought to be a connection to Clark Whitaker, Sylvanus being his brother???. They evidently lived next door to one another for a time. Then I was told that that was erroneous. Do you have any info on this? Margie in Michigan.
lIST: Thanks for your concern over my situation, I wanted to let the group know that one of theAbraham lines has been filled (at least, I think so,) and that is what I wanted to find out but Rootsweb kept saying they couldn't send because I didn't belong and I knew I did (meantime, amassed a bunch of papers saying so). I have found reasonable evidence that Fifth Gen. Abraham of Haverhill (Abraham-4, Jonathan-3, Abraham-2, Abraham-1) b 19 Sept 1764, Stafford Springs, Tolland, CT, d 1840 in Warren, Bradford Co.,PA, ae 75, m. 1) Betsey White 22 Sept 1785; Betsey b abt 1766 and 2) Catherine Tredwell b 5 May 1770, d 10 May 1848. Betsey and Abraham had Clark Whitaker m Catherine Beardsley. who seems to be my g- grandfather. Clark and Catherine had Sylvester S. my grandfather who m. Lillian M. Sylvester and Lillian had two sons, Sylvester (my father) and Lloyd, my uncle. Will welcome corrections/additions. Marie Whitaker Sheldon

This was all thru a paper sent to me from NancyBorman which was on the Fifth Generation of Abraham Whitaker of Haverhill,MA. I have contacted Nancy on this but she had no info for me, so I am turning to you for advice on what to do now without having to go thru skillions of people who have nothing to offer. Fifth Generation AbrahamWhitaker of Haverhill, MA (Abraham-4, Jonathan-3, Abraham-2, Abraham-1) was born in Stafford Springs, Tolland, CT 19 Sep 1764.
