    3. Well. . . let's see. It depends on what time frame you are talking about, but currently, it is bounded on the north by Grayson and Carroll County, VA, . . . to the west by Alleghany and Wilkes County, NC, to the south byYadkin County, NC, and to the east and southest by Stokes and Forsyth County. Now, if you go back into the late 1700s, Surry County covers most of those counties I just listed, except VA. :-) I'm descended from the William and Jonathan WHITAKER I lines of Surry County and I just like to wander around the countryside to find old graves and fmily cemeteries and take photos of them. Hey Anne, Patrick, Mandy, and all other NC kinfolk! 3. Dear Whitaker researchers, William Whitaker and his brother, Jonathan I, were the founders of the Surry County, North Carolina Whitaker families. This question concerns Jonathan I's line. Johnthan I had about eleven children that included brothers William* and Jordan. William* had about 12 children, the last born being Tennessee Virginia Whitaker, b.1832. This according to several Whitaker researchers. Jordan had about four children, one being King David Whitaker who married his first cousin, Tennessee Virginia (TV1), in 1853. I have a copy of this marriage license and the name is Vergerina, not TV1. I also have another document that uses the name "Vergerina." My Question: Is TV1 and Vergerina the same person? If so, then "Vergerina" would be a nickname for TV1. Possibly TV1 was intended to be called "Virginia." Possibly "Vergerina" is just a misspelling of "Virginia" that stuck. To complicate things, William* had a son named Wesley who had a daughter also named Tennessee Virginia (TV2). This TV2 was b.1858 and was married to Thomas Donathan. Could this TV2 be confused with TV1? Or is she really TV1's niece? Does anyone has any better information on this? David Grant Whitaker

They are Mrs Chadwick d 23 Oct 1919, who had one son, Ernest CHADWICK and Mrs RIGBY who had a lot of children and wouldn't live with her husband also John and Richard WHITAKER. I have the addresses of Ernest CHADWICK and Mrs RIGBY in Bolton, Lancashire, England dated in 1931. I don't have the first names of Mary's sisters. Mary was from Chorlton cum Hardy and married her husband William Henry SELLEN 22 Feb 1874 in the Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire and he was from Stretford. I have all of his history back to 1700 but I need more information on Mary. I would appriciate knowing any information that you know. Regards Jean Benson jbenson578@cybertrails.com

    2. Dear Kyleen: Your beautiful tribute to your Grandmother was fantastic. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am a Whitaker descendant from NC, SC, VA, La, Ark, TX and England. I also am interested in your Pennington Family. Do you have any information that you can share. I am helping a neighbor do her Pennington Family from Texas and any info would be greatly appreciated. We are not sure where her people came from to Texas. Thanking you in advance for any assistance. Cookey Bradford Young

    3. Harriette, Thank you also for replying. I am really stuck with my Whitaker's. The earliest information I have is that Thomas Whitaker was born circa 1790 in WOR. I have checked on the IGI for any Thomas' born in Wor and have only found one that it might be and that is, Thomas WHITAKER born 14/2/1790 St.Helen Worcester,Worcester,England to Richard WHITAKER and Jane BUTLER who were married Worcester June 1789. I have nothing at all before that. I was hoping I could trace them to Lancashire. ANy information would be wonderful. regards Judy Whitaker. -----Original Message----- From: HHILLARD@aol.com [mailto:HHILLARD@aol.com] Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 9:50 AM To: WHITAKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WHITAKER] WHITAKER'S of WORCESTER or WARWICJSHIRE UK J: I believe you and I have corresponded before on the Whitakers. I am Harriette Bradford Young. I descend from the Whitakers of The Holme, Lancashire, England. Do you know anything about your earlier Whitakers and if it is possible they are kin to the Whalley Parish group at The Holme? I have a great deal of info and will be happy to share with you if it will help. Just let me know. Good luck. 3. Many thanks for your reply. I am afraid I cannot say whether we are connected to a Claude Whitaker. At this stage that name is not familiar and has not appeared in any family tree but that does not mean we are not connected Thomas Whitaker is the earliest information I have and can't seem to get back any further than 1821. I would really like to know who his parents were. I will get in touch if I find a Claude Whitaker. regards Judy Whitaker. -----Original Message----- From: lprivett [mailto:lprivett@netzero.net] Sent: Monday, May 20, 2002 9:01 AM To: WHITAKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WHITAKER] WHITAKER'S of WORCESTER or WARWICJSHIRE UK ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Whitaker" <pajw@bigpond.com> To: <WHITAKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 18, 2002 9:25 PM Subject: [WHITAKER] WHITAKER'S of WORCESTER or WARWICJSHIRE UK > Hi to the List. > > Is there anyone out there researching the WHITAKER'S of WORCESTER and > WARWICKSHIRE,UK. > > I am researching the family of Thomas WHITAKER and Ann BISHOP married > Birmingham 1821. > > Any information about a WILLIAM, THOMAS, RICHARD, JOHN, GEORGE, ANN, JANE , > and SARAH > would be greatly appreciated.
