3. I am searching for the father of William WHITTIKER/WHITAKER who was born 1802/1804 in MS. Mother was Nancy, who remarried a William FITZGIBBONS/ Fitz GIBBON in Quachita, LA in 1819. (William WHITTIKER had a brother Peter. In fact, there are a William Elijah & a Peter Randolph in every generation since them. Peter was born 1804/1808.) FITZGIBBONS, Nancy and kids came to Texas in 1822 with Staphen F. Austin's first colony and lived in several counties in east Texas, including Harris and Upshur. They also joined the Robertson Colony in 1838 and got land grants then. Family info says William's first wife was Nancy RANDOLPH. Their children were: Elijah (1829), R. (1830), C. (1833). He married second wife Nancy WALKER in Harrison County, TX in 1841. Their known children were: M.A. (1844), E. (1849), and John Taylor (1858). William apparently died in the late 1850's, as did Nancy, and the children were dispersed to other families, according to family info. I have a lot on his decendancy to share. Any clues??? Mari

Very helpful, you might want to bookmark it. http://www.vitalcheck.com It provides information on vital records for each US state and the forms for requesting records. Try it.

    3. I have a Thomas J. Whitaker of which I have no vital information. Several sibling of his were born in the 1830's . His father, Daniel, was born in KY but I think most if not all of his siblings were born in TN. Interestingly enough this Thomas' sister, Melissa Atlanta Whitaker, married Richard Henry Marshall. The dates are right and there is a Marshall connection. Do you have any more information to go on? 3. First time posting: I am seeking information on my gg grandfather, Thomas P. Whitaker who died in Kingfisher, Oklahoma on 6/17/1893. According to a faded copy of a tornout obit, he was born in Floyd County, KY, June 13th, 1830. He married Eveline Marshall and had 6 children. The clipping states he "moved to Barbar County [KS] and erected the Whitaker House, famous among the cowboys and scouts of the day at Sun City." The obit mistakenly opens with the initials "J.P. Whitaker..," however later refers to him as "Uncle Tom." I also have a photocopy of the "Births" page of the family bible which shows his name as Thomas P. Children were: F.[Francis] A., Born 5/6/1851 Emily, Born 5/4/1854 Wilkerson, Born 6/20/1856 Harriett, Born 3/23/1861 (my gg grandmother, m. Henry Gilroy 8/10/1875) Estell, Born 4/18/1864 Kathryn Born 11/20/1863 married F.N. Salyer B. 9/17/1856 Anyone with any information about ancestors or siblings of Thomas Whitaker, or of his wife Eveline (Evaline) Marshall b. 10/26/1833? I would like to trade info. Thanks.

    3. Dennis, Herbert isn't of my line, but as far as scanning the small photo... If that doesn't work, go to a Kinko's or Lazerquik (a copy place that has laser color copy machines). Have them copy and enlarge it on the copy machine. But make sure they use the color machine ... even if the photo is black and white...it will copy clearer. I've done that with many of my "old" photos and they come out looking like a real photograph. Shouldn't be more than $1.50 a picture, if that much. Some places are really reasonable. 3. Hi Whitakers: I have some old photos from my grandmothers collection. One of them was labeled by an uncle "Mom's old beau". The photo is labeled Herbert Whitaker. I guess the date at 1910 +-. At this time my grandmother (Arizona Pearle Spawr) was living in Ripley or Butler County Missouri. Herberts address is on the back of this very small studio portrait and I can make out Seventh------, Coast Artillery Corps, U.S. Army, Ft. Moultrie, S.C. Herbert is apparently a cadet in a military unit. If anyone thinks this could be their Herbert Whitaker, I will try to scan it and send you the image. However it is such a small print that I don't know how well that will work. Dennis West in Knoxville, TN.

    3. I am interested in establishing contact with any descendant of Joseph and Mary Ann WHITTAKER who had children Benjamin (b.1852), William, Annie, Lizzie (Elizabeth ?), John and possibly others. Benjamin maried Annie BENNETT in 1873, probably in the USA. In 1884 they were back in Dukinfield, UK, at 429 Astley St. His brother John lived at 254 Astley St., (Peake House), perhaps as late as 1962, with his wife Edith and children Hilda, Arthur, Dora and Sally. The brother William married an Ann(ie) Reinbold (date unknown). The above is about all the info I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. In case you haven't heard about this, just wanted to share the information. There is a wonderful website which contains the email addresses for people who have volunteered to get copies of documents for anyone who requests a specific document from a specific place (selections are shown at volunteer's listing). It is set up by state, then by county, etc.. It also contains email addresses for those who have volunteered to do look-ups in certain surname books or DAR Indexes. Here is the hyperlink & URL : Genie Angels http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/6878/#icq Sadly, some states / counties do not have volunteers yet, but many do. Let's hope those you are seeking has a Genie Angel to help you. Better yet, why not volunteer to help others? Linda
