    1. Searching for KY Whitakers
    2. Maybe if we all posted our most wanted Whitaker, it would generate a little more activity. I am a newbie to genealogy research. I am searching for information on Almander Whitaker and Ora (Banks) Whitaker. He was from KY and she was a Cherokee Indian. After they were married, probably shortly before 1920, they moved to Missouri and possibly Texas before settling in Hazard, KY. They had at least one child: Clarance Leonard Whitaker born 2-15-20. Died in 1988? in Texas. Is anyone else research this line? I would appreciate any further information that anyone is willing to share. Laila Whitaker [email protected]

    2. Joan and Huie Landrum
    3. Hi Pennie, Thanks for responding. I'm sorry, I don't have your Louisa the only one I have is Louisa E.Whitaker b. 1845 to Daniel Hayden Whitaker and wife Anna M. Bennett Whitaker. They lived in MO. Louisa E. married Richard McMillen. Jonathan Whitaker Jr. had three descendants who came to Texas. They were the children of William Whitaker b. 1785 and Sarah Skinner and were probably born in the early 1800's. Their names were Jonathan Milton Whitaker, William Pitt Skinner Whitaker, and Mary Whitaker who married David Morris. My great grandfather from the Eliphalet line was William Watter Whitaker who married Violetta Isabella Hildreth and came to Texas in 1871. 1. Abraham & Stephen Whitaker CT
    2. I am still searching for information on Abraham's wife, Anne Harrington. They were m in Stafford, Tolland Cty. CT in 1755. Their children were: Stephen b 1759, Abraham, Jireny (?), Anne. Stephen supposedly m a Sarah Pratt in Somers, CT 1781. I have been to Somers but no record and LDS film unreadable. Would like to know when Sarah was b, to whom and when/where she died. I have nothing concrete on any of their children except that there is another Stephen b ca 1786 possibly Stafford, CT who m a Sarah/Sally Dimmick ca 1809. In the Old Stafford cemetery there is a stone for Rhoda Whitaker, wife of Stephen, Jr, and a child also named Rhoda who both d in 1809. This stone is next to the military stone for Stephen who served in the Rev War. Rhoda the wife was 25 yrs old at her death. The Stephen b 1786 is b in a cemetery in Chicopee. Can anyone help with this mystery? Thanks. Alice

    3. I'm here too but am new (last week) and haven't posted yet. I wanted to read the archives first to save redundancy, but I'll go ahead and post anyway. My Whitaker line begins with my great great grandmother, Louisa F. Whitaker, born 1830 in N. Carolina, USA, died 1883 in Denton County, Texas, USA. 1. My Whitaker line
    2. Robert Tallman
    3. Hi all, I have been stonewalled with my WHITAKER line for a few years. I believe there is a Cherokee connection but have had no success in proving that point. As a matter of fact, other than my g mother, I have not been able to trace any of Bennet's issue. My data as I know it is: Bennet WHITAKER b.1810, NC, m. Margaret Ann ELLIS 10 Aug 1847. their issue was: Wiley C. WHITAKER, b. 1848, Lincoln Co.,TN Mary M. WHITAKER, b. 1850, Lincoln Co.,TN, m. Thomas B. MOORE Nancy J. WHITAKER, b. 30 Sep 1851, Lincoln Co., TN, d. 6 Mar 1914, Lincoln Co., TN, m. James Hinkle MOORE Andrew WHITAKER, b. 1859, Lincoln Co, TN Margaret Ann apparently died after Andrew's birth as Bennet married (2) Sarah SHIPP, 17 Apr 1859. The 1850 Census also lists David W. ELLIS, 7; James P. ELLIS, 5 & Bryant H WHITAKER, 26 in Bennet's household. David and James could be Margaret's children from another marriage which would mean ELLIS is not her maiden name. I haven't a clue as to who Bryant is. Any help identifying the parents of Bennet and or Margaret would be appreciated. TIA Bob Tallman
