    3. Whittaker researchers, I just signed up with this list today. I am seeking information on my gr gr grandfather Peter Whittaker who was born in Canada in 1796, moved to New York, and finally in 1818 with his father in law, Isaac Lownsbery, moved to Tioga co, Pa. where he spent the rest of his life. His son Seth and Seth's daughter Celia Jane Whittaker are my ancestors. Celia was my mother's mother. Looking for information on Peter's parents in Canada. A biography of Peter says his father was drafted for the war of 1812 and Peter agreed to serve in his father's place but did not like the idea of fighting americans and deserted to the USA. Any information on this family would be appreciated. Harold Hooper of Yacolt, Washington

    3. Hi Ann........ I don't know if my Whittaker's are related, but my father (b. 1929) is William Franklin Whittaker and he had a brother Robert who was born about 1931? I have been haveing trouble locating ancestors. My grandfather, Ira R. Whittaker married Anna Marie Cromer. Ira's mother was Sarah Wolf, I think, she married a Whittaker but I cannot locate a first name. My dad is still living, however, he doesn't recall much about his grandfather. As far as I know these Whittakers were all from central to western PA. I'm in the process of finishing some graduate work and hopefull will have more time to devote to searching next summer..................Maybe we can make some connections. Barb

    3. My ggrandfather, Robert Whitaker, came to the States from England in 1872. I do not know the name of the ship, when exactly in 72, or which port the ship landed at (Boston, NY,?). My question is: How do I go about finding this information and getting emigration data? I've checked all the ship sites I can find on the web or in books, etc. I've not found one listed that his name is on. Any suggestions? Once I have the ship, port information; how do I go about getting emigration data? 3. Hi, I have a hint of a possible location of an ancestor and am writing for your help. I am looking for these names : MARTHA WHITAKER who married CHARLES GASCOIGNE The following information was found in: Wales Parish, Yorkshire, England. ( checked and I believe it is in the Western Riding). "Charles GASCOIGNE m. 1781 Martha WHITAKER 1781 Charles Gascoigne, city of London, Officer of Excise, m. Martha Whittaker (note both ways of spelling) of this parish". Martha Gascoigne 1756-1834 I am not sure if this is the same as Martha Whitaker above. 2 children were: 1. John Rogers, born in London, 26 Apr 1799 Stepney St. Geo in East (I am having a difficult time with the handwriting on that London address). 2. Marie and no further information on her. I am trying to connect this family to James Bamber Gascoigne b. Leeds, Yorkshire Eng. in 1785. James Bamber Gascoigne and wife, Ann Taylor, had first son named Charles GASCOIGNE b in NY City, and second son named James Whitaker GASCOIGNE born 1821 New York City. The coincidence is enough for me to pursue this line. Is there anyone researching these names? Gascoigne; Whitaker; Taylor I would love to hear from you or if you know of someone working on these families, please give them my email address. Is there a suggestion of how I could search for more information on them? I appreciate your help. Thanks so much. Ginny Core, Wyoming

    2. Thomas Baker
    3. I have the article "The Whitaker Family of Baltimore County, MD, 1677 - 1767" by Beaumont Whitaker. My problem is trying to link my family to John Whitacre. My grandfather William E. Whitaker (born 1853) and g grandfather George W. Whitaker (born abt. 1823) were both born in Harford County, MD. Since my family stayed in Harford County, until the 1880's I believe I may be connected to the family of Isaac Whitaker and Elizabeth Hill. My problem is the article ends with the generation of the 1760's. I am probably missing two generations to link my family with either John S. or Joshua Whitaker since Samuel and Benjamin left Harford County. I would appreciate any information. Thanks, Marion Whitaker Baker
