I am looking for any information which can lead to the discovery of the parents of Stephen Whetsel b. 1822 in PA, we think. We know that his family had connections to Hagerstown, MD. and WV. We have also been told that his father's name could possibly be John. Marc's info this morning is very promising as the John he mentioned who came from the Philadelphia area may well have come from a Whetsel family that settled in Northampton Co., Pa. Is there anyone on this list who has ties to Hagerstown, Md., Northampton Co, PA or one of the other counties close by, or W.V. who can post any additional info for us? I am also looking for any info leading to a Delmar Whetsel who was last known to be living at Hagerstown, Md. He was born in 1868 or 1869 to Stephen Whetsel and his wife Jane Whetsel the daughter of George Whetsel and Elizabeth Jordan of Fayette Co., Pa. Since good old g, grand-daddy left his PA family, we are beginning to wonder if he didn't start a new family in Maryland or W.V.
