To Gene Whaley from Jackie Weeden-- Thanks for pointing out the discrepancies in the marriage date for Edward and Elizabeth Caldwell. Jackie had taken the date from the GA Genealogical Magazine and it says 1803. The LDS IGI record also says 1803, but, as you say, the Maddox book of Early Marriages does say 1830. Personally, it would seem that Maddox is correct, but we need to go to the *original* source that he used, which would be the marriage records on film at LDS. Are you close to an LDS library so you could order a film? The 1830 date would be great for you, as it would then make it possible for this couple to be parents of James Ratliff Whaley. But still, to be sure, please pursue the death certificate and obituary suggestion I gave you. We want to be *sure*. There seems to be no census record for this couple in GA and AL. James Ratliff was b in AL ten years after the marriage. There should perhaps be more children. If the 1860 census is correct, then Edward must have d before 1860, as Elizabeth was living with James in Quitman Co GA. So..they married in GA, he was b in AL, and then they went back to GA and then back to AL????? You said you had birth dates for Edward and Elizabeth. Where did you get them? Jackie
