Carolyn (aka den mother...) I sent my DNA sample for my surname project (MOORE) and have already received 3 matches to folks outside of my known family group in addition to confirming my Scotch-Irish origin. For me, this seems to be the most logical means to open more doors to our ancestors and avoid wasting time pursuing the wrong paths in our research. How many of us have collected reams of information from some source only to find that there was ultimately no connection??? Within this past year, I have watched the MOORE group blossom into a continually growing list with many matches and groupings. So...I encourage the men with the Whaley surname to take the Y-DNA test--even if it is initially the 12 marker test. The more people in the test group, the more likely there will be matches and sub-groups formed. Based on the size and wide-spread nature of the WSP, this seems the most advantageous path to take now. Best wishes... If you are a potential candidate for this research project, please consider signing up. The more people we have participating, the quicker we'll begin to see the family relationships and where our oldest ancestors originated!
