    1. [WHALEY] James Whaley of Westmoreland Co, VA, 1728 . . .

    3. "OLD ORDINARY, a tract in Westmoreland County, had 15 slaves, 87 hogs, 57 cattle, 27 sheep, and 6 horses in the 1732 inventory of Robert “King” Carter's estate; James Whaley was then its overseer." ("Carter Papers: An Inventory. . . .".) And, then . . . 520 - Major Thomas Owsley who patented 600 acres on Accotink Run on 17 November 1696 was the father of Thomas Owsley of Overwharton Parish, Stafford, who on 13 June 1728 sells a portion of this land to James Whaley of Washington Parish, Westmoreland county. Question: Is it possible for a man who is functioning as an overseer for Carter lands in Westmoreland County to ALSO be in the position to purchase lands of his own in Stafford county??? Can this be one and the same man? Puzzling! C. Carolyn Whaley Vosburg Houston, TX
