Just wanted to let you know that Dad Whaley passed away very peacefully at 6:50 pm Friday evening at home. He was diagnosed with a mass on his right lung on Wednesday May 2nd. We met with his Dr that Friday and he passed away just two weeks later. Leah and I are here for mother. The home phone number is 301-733-3487. Whaley, 82 DEC. 24, 1924-MAY 18, 2007 Clarence Samuel "Sam" Whaley, 82, of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, May 18, 2007, at his home. Born Dec. 24, 1924, in Highland County, Greenfield, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence Cecil and Marjorie A. Pfister Whaley. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in Ohio class of 1943. He served in the U.S. Army 387th Infantry Regiment of the 97th Division European Theatre of Operations during World War II. He was a self-employed owner of the Dual Highway Dairy Queen, which he operated with his family from 1952 to 1986. He also was owner of the Galion (Ohio) Roofing and Siding Company from 1947 to 1952. He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a member of Elks Lodge 368; Masonic Scioto Lodge 6 of Chillicothe; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Ohio; American Legion, Scarborough Post 243, Galion; and past president of Lions Club of Galion. He also served as treasurer of the former Hickory Ridge Hunt Club Inc. He is survived by his wife, Ullnee P. "Mickey" Whaley; one daughter, Leah M. Zimmerman and husband, Steven, of Staunton, Va.; one son, Daniel J. Whaley and wife, Deborah, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; one brother, Marion P. Whaley and wife, Joyce, of Troy, Ohio; one grandson, Daniel Michael Whaley and wife, Melissa, of Delaware, Ohio; two granddaughters, Kelly L. Zimmerman of Baltimore, Md., and Allison M. Zimmerman of Charleston, S.C.; one great-grandson, Samuel Allen Whaley of Delaware; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N.
