I'm sure this post will bring a few folks out and provide you with more information. It seems you belong to what I have chosen to call the North Carolina Whaleys. That's a totally unofficial title, by the way! <grin> I have noticed there are South Carolina Whaleys (who may belong to the N.C. Whaleys, actually) the Georgia Whaleys, Missouri Whaleys, New York Whaleys, Michigan Whaleys, and so on. That is only my personal observation based on years and years of following reports of Whaleys around the U.S. who settled in certain areas and basically stayed there, raising generation after generation of other Whaleys, all living nearby... My "branch", from northern Ohio, came from the Dale, N.Y. area, where there were a LOT of Whaleys, many of whom came from Whaley families that came there from Vermont and Rhode Island. Much good luck, William. Genealogy is a fun and frequently frustrating field of endeavor! Many stumbling blocks along the way. Sometimes all the skill in the world will not help a bit, and Lady Luck plays a large part in digging up family information... <smile> keith whaley
