George Powell , Sr. wife name was Mary. No surname. He had 4 children: Mary married a Gibson, William born abt. 1801, George, Jr.(born July 18, 1818) that married Eliza Smith; and Suzanna (born abt Feb. 18,1818) who married James Cree. All of these people lived in St. James Goose Creek, SC at the time of their birth. An old genealogist and historian told me that he believed that John Whaley was the father of George Powell, Sr. as he had 1000 acres next to GP, Sr. Lynn Haltiwanger
