Hi, My name is Sheila Whaley. I am trying to Research my father's family tree with not much luck. I'm beginning to think that I am searching for a family that does not want to be found. Here is what I know : This begins with my grandfather.... Robert Anderson Whaley -D.O.B. Jan. 26,1903 (we think) Died- Jan. 1983 in Houston Tx. He lived in Cleveland, Tx. as long as I can remember. My father remembers him saying that he grew up in Waco. He left home around age of 13-14 yrs. old. He had a brother named Frank and a sister named Katherine, and another sister that they called "Sis". (nobody remembers her real name) . Frank had a son named Frank Jr. No other info is known. From stories my Dad remembers my grandfather saying; His grandmother or grandfather was almost (if not) full blooded Cherokee Indian. Robert married Lucy Lee Medley. They had 8 children. James Edward Whaley -D.O.B FEB. 14,1922 DIED -DEC, 1985 IN LONGVIEW, TX Harold Whaley-Living Helen Whaley-White- Living Geneva Whaley-Birdsong- Living Aubrey Dean Whaley-Living Gerald Lee Whaley- Living (My Father) Sandra Whaley-Campbell- Living Eleanor Whaley- died at a young age Lucy Medley-Whaley's parents are: F.W. Medley- Stats Unknown married Viola Celestine Reid. They were married in Bowie Co. Tx. in 1897. We believe that Lucy was born in that area, possibly in Nash, Tx. I am unable to find her stats anywhere. Not even in the s.s., death index. If anybody could PLEASE HELP ME I would greatly appreciate your help. I am stuck in a rut. My family has said that Robert did not talk about his family. (reasons unknown) I would love to know more of my Whaley Family. Not that mine is small. The more the merrier... Thank You in advance.
