I do not know the parents, but one way to find out is to get the State Census record from Dutchess County for 1855 and 1865. They would tell you what county John was born in. Then you could check that county for Whaleys at that time and it might give you some good clues. My FGS notes say that this couple are your Great Great Grandparents. Right??
