Thanks, William Whalley for identifying the source of the Antique book found by Julie. You pointed out some discrepancies in the notes written by the author of the captions. We would like to point out another discrepancy. The material in this book is based on the premise that Edward the Regicide was the ancestor of this line! The lineage on the separate piece of paper in the book states: Peter Whaley Sr., son of Seth Whaley Seth Whaley, son of Elias Whaley Elias Whaley, son of Nathaniel Whaley *Nathaniel Whaley son of Mary Middleton and Major General Edward Whaley, one of the three judges. (The Regicide) *Nathaniel Whaley was son of Edward Wale and Elizabeth Ratcliff. Edward Wale and Elizabeth Ratcliff were married in MD and their children's births are all on record there. Edward Whalley the Regicide had no son Nathaniel. In 1880 the theory that Edward Wale was indeed the Regicide was abandoned by Robert P. Robins. It was his great great grandfather Thomas Robins 3d, who started the theory that Edward Wale and Edward Whalley the Regicide were the same man. Edward Whalley had no son Nathaniel, and his children were all born in England. Edward Wale was not an educated man as the Regicide was, as he signed his 1718 will with an x.
