I am trying to find any information at all on: John Calhoun Whaley b. 1834 in Louisiana or South Carolina, d. 1913 in Dallas, Texas. He was married 3 times: Wife #1: Fredonia Womack, d. 1862 in childbirth with son John Daniel, d. 1925 Wife #2: Fannie Jerdan, d. 1869 in childbirth with son Lewis Williams, d. 1944 Wife#3: Amanda Cannada (Canady) b. 1849, Missouri, d. 1928, Dallas, Tx. Children: Jessie Henry b. 1873 Lula Elizabeth b. 1875 Walter Lee b. 1877 Oliver b. 1878 William b. 1880 Elmer Clarence b. 1882 d. 1962 (my great-grandfather) Edward P. b. 1887 Lillie Frances b. 1888, d. 1977 George Calhoun b. 1894, d. 1966 As near as I can tell, all of his children died in Texas. Family lore has it that his family was burned out sometime when he was a young boy, and he and his father walked to Texas. His father died along the way, and he was taken in by some kind people he met here. Does anyone know anything about him? I've been searching for years and cannot get past him.
