[I tried to copy and paste Weeden's FGS for William and Hannah Brewton Whaley but since it has columns it will not come through decently. So I copied and pasted Stephen's FGS as it was received by us and have put additions, corrections and additional information below his items and have enclosed our material with brackets such as these--[ ]. Children of William and Hannah (ROUND) WHALEY: [Hannah is recorded as NEE BREWTON, which means she was born a Brewton. Brewton is also spelled Brawton, Bruton, Broughton, etc. Hannah's grandson Samuel Betts Jones referred to her as Hannah BRAWTON. In the 1930s a descendant and researcher Susie Cunyas referred to her as Hannah Pound. We wonder if she married a POUND later in life. ?? There were Pounds living in that area then.] 1. Esther "Hessey" WHALEY, born 14 Sep 1770, Sinepuxton, Worchester County, Maryland. Hessey married John PEPPER. (See Chapter 2) [Esther was probably originally called 'Hester' but because of the trouble the English had with the letter 'H', she was called Esther and Hessy would be a nickname. There is no proven place of birth.] 2. Mary "Polly" WHALEY, born 1 Mar 1771, Georgia. Also known as the "Widow" Mary JONES. Mary married James JONES. (See Chaper 3) [She was born March 1, 1772, probably not in GA. She died 12-25-1847 in Marion Co, IL and was bur in Sandy Branch Cem, Marion Co IL.She had more children after her husband died, and they were evidently fathered by Samuel Betts. They went by the last name of 'Jones' and the youngest was called Samuel Betts Jones.] 3. Eli C. WHALEY, born 16 Oct 1774 GA. He died Dec 1855, Hancock County, Georgia. Buried in Walton County, Georgia. Eli married Elizabeth GRACE. [Eli was born Feb. 16, 1774, probably not in GA. He died Dec.1855, Hancock Co GA and was buried in Walton Co GA, where his wife Betsy and daugher Comfort were buried after they were murdered. Eli never used the letter C in his name. One index called him E.C. Whaley but a check of the original handwritten ELI showed that the written L was leaning to the right, and the i came up underneath and made it look like a C.] 4. Rhoda WHALEY, born 27 Feb 1776, Georgia. Rhoda married ___?___ HENNING. [We have seen her husband's name spelled Hemming.] 5. Martha "Patsy" WHALEY, born 25 Feb 1778, Georgia. Patsy married John ATKINS. (See Chapter 4) [Patsy married twice--1st to Ben Evins and 2nd to Robert Atkinson or Atkins.] 6. Hannah WHALEY, born 27 Oct 1780, Georgia. Hannah married ___?___ EVINS. [Descendant Edwina Moody says Hannah's husband's name was Ewins or Ewing.] 7. William WHALEY, Jr, born 11 Jan 1783, Georgia. He died 1844, Fayette County, Georgia. William married Elizabeth LACKEY. 8. Samuel WHALEY, born 15 Nov 1784, Georgia. He died 1847-49, Georgia. Samuel married Miriam KELLY 11 Nov 1812, Hancock County, Georgia. [He died in ?Murray Co GA.] 9. Isaac WHALEY, born 15 Apr 1787, Georgia. Isaac married 1st Judy HARRIS 31 Aug 1809, Morgan County, Georgia. Isaac married 2nd Sarah BERRY 7 Jan 1840, Henry County, Georgia. Isaac married 3rd Harriett RABURN 18 Jul 184_, Tallapoosa Co AL [He was known as Isaac R. He died between 1870 and 1880 Census, Tallapoosa Co AL. We have the marriage date for Isaac R. and Raburn as 1846.] 10. Daniel WHALEY, born 26 Feb 1789, Georgia. Daniel married ___?___ BOWIE. [We found a record mentioning his wife as Hiles.] 11. Elizabeth "Betsy" WHALEY, born 28 Mar 1791, Georgia. Betsy married Thomas J. MORRIS. (See Chapter 5) [Betsy was married 2-1-1807 in Jackson Co GA. She died 6-2-1853 in Marion Co IL.] 12. child WHALEY, born Georgia.
