Carolyn, In St. James Goose Creek, we have a John with land (1000) next to Geroge Powell Whaley, Sr.'s land. I don't know the date of the survey. Michael, if you are reading this, can you find your copy of the survey? The person that did reserach in Berkeley told me (before he died) that he felt that John was George P.'s father. We have no proof. The Edisto Whaleys have several Johns' but none earlier than 1783. We are trying to get DNA testing of the two lines to see if we are related. The Edisto Whaleys claim they are decendents of Edward. The St James Goose Creek Whaleys have "Middleton" as a prominent name. There are several names that both lines used frequently. It is interesting that The St. James Goose Creek used 'Middleton" and the Edisto Whaleys did not. Our line has never claimed further back that George P. Whaley, Sr. Of course we have not given up. Just information that might be worthwhile. Lynn
