Two Continental Sol- diers, who kept out of the way. whin I sent forward them by Capt Robt Dashiell, as soon as I got these men in I sent them under Guard to Cambridge to Be Safe kept untill a pasage offered to An- napolis But the Gentlemen Refused to Take any Charge of them and sent them back, the Expence of sending them to Cambridge was Near Sixty pounds which I hope will be stopt out of Elijah Justices Bounty; as he has put us to the Expence Since I rote you by Capt. Dashiell I heare the price of pork is fallen in Philadelphia and am In hopes that I shall get more of that Article then I expected from that Circumstance. I have a quantity of Corn at Snow hill & sum at the Sea Side, But I think it needless to attempt to Ship any from Snow hill untill their is sum Guard Boats sent down or the Cruisers Take Leave of us as but Very Few of our Vesels Escape the Enemy, and I am realy of oppinion that the risk to Trentown is not as great, as to the head of Elk at present, and if it is agreaule to you I will send One Loadthat way. I have Shipt you by this Conveyance four Barrels of Pork & Eighty eight pounds Bacon which is all that is at Salisbury at pres- ent & is as much as I would wish to Ship in one Boat Since I rote the above I have Recd official advice that the Priva- teers have Taken all the Tobacco out of American Warehouse, and have made an attempt to Take of Mr Henry Dennes & a Capt.
