The Honorable James Brice and John Kilty Esquires attended. Colonel Hooe appears before the Board and alledges that the Cannon and Military Stores sent him by the Governor and Council on the 29th. of January 1781, and 30th. of April 1782, were for the State of Virginia and not for himself and produces the following Claims of the State of Virginia to shew she will not be indebted to this State, on a return of the three nine pounders, which he says the Lieutenant of Fairfax County has orders from the Executive of Virginia to send on to this State,"It appears from authentic documents in the Council Chamber that in the Year 1782, Colonel Corbin, the County Lieuten- ant of Accomack, lent to Captain Whaley of the Protector Barge belonging to Maryland a twenty four pound Iron Cannon, thirty five Stand of Arms, and One hundred pounds of gunpowder; It doth not appear that these articles, or any part of them have been returned.
