This is a multi-part message in MIME format... ------------=_953411856-18218-0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Disposition: inline Please excuse me if I tell the story backwards, or rather from the middle. In 1825 Rebecca Ibbotson gave birth to an illegitimate son by Richard Whaley at the Whitehorse Inn in Marrick, North Yorkshire England. This son christened William retained his mothers name hence my name 4 generations later is Ibbotson. Richard Whaley was the youngest of 8 children of William (1748? -died 1821) and Jane (nee Ling). They had married at Marske in North Yorkshire 12 June 1780 while he was working as a miller at Marske Hall. The baptism dates and brief notes of the 8 children are :- John 1781 at Marske, was to marry and have 4 children Susan 1783 at Marske, did not marry but had 2 children James 1785 at Marske, died unmarried 1864 in London William 1787 at Marske, ? Elizabeth 1781 at Marrick, married Mathew Beal 1827 at Marrick Jane 1792 at Marrick, married Mathew Wagget 1821, 2Dau, 1Son. Mathew 1794 at Marrick, ? Richard 1797 at Marrick, unmarried, 1 Son. Died from Cholera 1849 at Hartlepool County Durham England. William the elder had a brother Thomas, and their father John lived in the Hawes area of N.Yorkshire. There were several Whaleys living in the area and we have not identified our particular John. My male line runs - John Whaley-William Whaley-Richard Whaley-William Ibbotson-Alonza Ibbotson- Harry Ibbotson-Arthur Ibbotson.(me) I hope this rambling account will be of use to someone. Regards Arthur. ------------=_953411856-18218-0--
