To Connie Johnston and other descendants of Alexander and Ruth McAnally--from Jackie Weeden: In Digest 2000-#47, Connie Johnston wrote about Alexander Whaley and Ruth McAnally. Connie said that Ruth first married a man named Dockery. She did not give any sources--was it family info--Bible info or what? She does show a definite death date for Ruth as being 5-3-1887 which we do not have on our FGS. I will have to check the marriage records for a mar of Ruth McANally and ___Dockery to see if it is recorded there. I do have a copy of Ruth's application for a widow's pension and bounty land for Alexander's War of 1812 service. On one page Ruth is swearing that she was mar 9-10-1812 under the name of Ruth McAnally, not Ruth Dockery. The published TN marriage records show her as Ruth McAnally. In the pension papers, her brother John McAnnally testified, and the Justice of the Peace was Elijah McAnnally. Ruth also states that Alexander d in AR in the fall of 1850. Connie says he d 1863 in AR. In 1850 in Poinsett Co AR Alexander and his 'other wife' Margaret (Hays) and their family were living in Greenfield and in 1860 only 'wife' Margaret (Hays) was living with son Riley and 3 of her other children in Jackson Co AR. So, it would SEEM that Alexander had indeed died between the 1850 and 1860 census. What do other descendants have to say about these new facts?????
