    1. James Elijah notes--
    2. To y'all- Well, smile, smile, smile! I got messages from others who feel the same way. James E. and Martha were m in MO, not NY. Martha was b Seneca NY. We found out that James Elijah was an artist. He died young, and Martha was a widow in 1880. She had lost her husband and two sons between 1870 and 1880. Then she herself died in 1885 leaving the two remaining sons Hugh Campbell and Newton Price orphans. Jackie said there was a mention of an application for guardianship by a MATHES before 1880 and then later, after 1880, an N. J. Price was guardian. (Newton Price??) Hey, we need an 1870 census for Newton Price Whaley. Where was he then? I tried to incorporate material from Pam Shelden and John Jr. into the FGS that we had here. A copy has been sent to Jeane and she will share it with those in her group. And some descendant of Thomas R. will have more to add or subtract or correct. I do not have Weeden's FGS yet for Thomas R. and Eliza Evans yet. Later. And can you *believe* we had this FGS with the two sons Hugh and Newton entered and it didn't seem to ring a bell? Well, we have 50 or more James Whaleys on disk. Can't remember details about all of them. Thanks so much George, for locating those Census records. By the way, James Elijah had an uncle Seth. Do you suppose Seth was the S. Whaley who had his initial S. Whaley-1862 in the old violin? Ruby
