I managed to locate a copy of the prime source of Wyamarus information which was used by Rev. Samuel Whaley in 'English Record of the Whaley Family'. It is 'The History and Antiquities of the County of Leicester' Vol 2, Part 2, by John Nichols, published 1798 in London, by the author. Pages 731 to 737, detail the village of Norton (now King's Norton) which was the seat of a branch of the Whalley family since just before 1600. The author gives extracts from the church registers, transcripts of monumental inscriptions, and a 'Pedigree' of the family back to Wyamarus. The Nottinghamshire branch of the family, which includes Edward the Regicide, is also given on the pedigree chart. Now, you can call me a cynical old sceptic (and you would probably be right), but I think there are some serious problems with this pedigree chart, which bring its validity into doubt. But anyone who wants to understand what I'm saying (and make their own input!) needs to see the information. So I've transcribed the text, and have it in a Rich Text Format, which ought to be readable by most word processors. And I have spreadsheeted the Pedigree chart on MS Excel 97. I can zip the two up and send as an attachment to anyone who would like them. I can also let you have a scan in JPG format of the Plate opposite Page 33, which shows lots of Coats of Arms of families linked with the Whalleys by marriage (though they are very small) and a picture of Wyamarus Whalley and his brother Stephen, both in armour, and displaying the Whalley Coat of Arms. I would send this separately from the other stuff, but it would still make the e-mail probably a bit more than 300kb. If anyone would like any or all of this, just send me an e-mail.
