Hi John Whaley Jr., etal-- In Digest 259 you gave some little bits of info re your line. Then you gave us a bit more. You said your grandfather Jack Jay Whaley was b in Pittsburg KS in 1907. That is in Crawford Co KS. Jackie looked in Crawford Co KS and adjoining counties for your Price Newton, father of Jack Jay. In 1880 in Jasper Co MO she found Newton P. living with his mother and brother Hugh C. Martha, the mother was 30, Hugh C. was 10 and Newton P. was 7. Then in 1900 in Cherokee Co KS, she found Newton P., age 28, b 4-1872, with wife Milla, married 3 years with child Phillip P. age 1. Cherokee Co KS, and Jasper Co MO and Crawford Co KS all adjoin each other. This seems to be your Price Newton. Remember they often turned their names around on these census records. (That was to give us more difficulty in locating them a hundred years later, I guess) <G> She needs the 1920 Soundex for Okmulgee Co OK. --Anyone?? So what do you think???
