Frank Whalley- I have been gone from the WSP for a while and just resubscribed last week. I expect to have more time after the first of the year to reload and start fresh on my two areas of focus; learning more about Theophilus Whaley and general historical interest in the English and American branches of Edward Whalley and of William Goffe. The history of William Goffe and his family in England and America is extremely interesting, complete with a mysterious Goffe who came to some prominence in Boston. Strong speculation and a little evidence indicates that this character was a son of William and was supported by a group of prominent Bostonians with close ties to Edward and William. During my absence from WSP I established some contacts with Goffe family relatives in the US and have identified a new line of information that might shed light on William and Edward shortly before and after their escape to America. We will have to see if it has legs or ends up in another dead end. I am very interested in seeing the new information you have discovered concerning Wyamarus in "Antiquities". I also wonder if you might be interested in pursuing a lead I picked up from a researcher in London. He was searching historical records of St.Olave's parish in the early 1700s for me and came across a reference to an Independent Church that met at Haberdashers's Hall in the City of London. Both Major-General Goffe and Colonel Whalley were members. The information is recorded in Walter Wilson's " THE HISTORY OF ANTIQUITIES AND DISSENTING CHURCHES"; 4 Volumes 1808-1814. Volume 3, page 150 gives an account. I didn't get a chance to see the account before the researcher retired. Robert Whaley Rochester, NY
