From: "Ella K.Kantner" <[email protected]> Hi to all, I'm real new at this computer genealogy, so need all the help I can get. I'm looking for James Whalen, B1841 D 1914 in Bay City, Mich. He immigrated to US 1863, from Ireland. Married Delia Bridget Ryan, in Bay city. Parents: Patrick Whalen & Mary Bournes of Ireland. His son John E Whalen B 1872. Ref. 1900 census, Cem records, death records bk F pg 7, church St. John's Catholic Church of Essexville, Mi. John E. Whalen, B Ypsilanti, Washtenau Co., Mi. Mar. Bessie N. Campau, 13 Jan 1900. Essexville, Mi. (Marriage record). John & Bessie had 5 children: Anna E. 1900, James 1902, Mary 1903, Mirian B 1904, Bernice 1905. this last child was my mother-in-law. I need to know what happened to the mother, Bessie, and why the children were in the orphanage in Cold Water, Mi., where Bernice was adopted and then belonged to the Moxon family of Woodland, Mich. at 3 years of age. Need to know where in Ireland this family lived, before they immigrated to the US. Thank you in advance for any help you might have. Ella K.
