Greetings, For those of you with family in Illinois during the 1800's: The on-going project to index pre-1901 marriages in Illinois is now on line & searchable, by bride's name, groom's name & county. Not all counties are done, but there are many that are completed. To get a list of counties & the years available, go to: http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/marrlst.html To search the database, go to http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/marriage.html The site includes instructions on how to get copes of the marriage licenses via phone or letter from the Illinois State Archives at a very small cost. There are many Whaley/Waley's listed (some even related to me!) Happy Hunting! Jeanne Cahill
