This is what I have: William WHALEY, born about 1750, Sinepuxent, Worcester County, Maryland. He died Aug 1795, Greene County, Georgia. William married Hannah ROUND about 1769. Hannah was born about 1753, Sinepuxent, Worcester County, Maryland, daughter of James and Rhoda (CRAPPER) ROUND. She was the granddaughter of James and Katrinnah (FASSITT) ROUND; and of Edmond and Hannah (___?___) CRAPPER. She was the great-granddaughter of William and Martha (WOOD) ROUND who were from England; and of William and Elizabeth (SHITTINGTON) FASSITT; and of John and Garthaight (BOWMAN) CRAPPER. In Nov 1776, William enlisted into the army. He served thru Dec 1779. He resigned due to ill health. He was in the 5th, 11th and 15th Virginia Regulars. He was with the foot regiment of Virginia, commanded by Colonel William RUSSELL, Colonel George MATTHEWS, Colonel Thomas FLEMING, Major Gustavus B. WALLACEAND and Lieut. Colonel CROPPER. His military records show that he was sick at Valley Forge, was at the battle of White Plains, Camp Middlebrook, commanded by Colonel Abraham BUFORD. He was at Camp Smiths Colvem, Haverstraw, Camp Amapaugh. The artillary commanded by Colonel Daniel MORGAN. William was on sick leave many times during his service. On 22 Jun 1795, William WHALEY made is will. It is as follows, "Record of the last will and testament of William Whaley, dec'd In the name of God Amen I, William Whaley of the state of Georgia and Greene County, being sick and weak of body, but of sound perfect and disposing mind and memory, blessed be God: Do this twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five, make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, viz. "Imprime. I give and recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it, and my body I wish to be buried in the earth at the discretion of my executors hereafter to be named. And my worldly goods I give, devise, and dispose of in the following manner. "Item. My will and desire is that all my just debts be paid by my executors out of my estate. "Item. I give and devise to my son Daniel Whaley one feather bed, which I bought from Benjamin Vinson, to belong to him and his heirs forever. "Item. All the rest and residue of my property of every nature and kind consisting of three feather beds furniture, one mare, one horse, one cow whatever money may be left from and after my just debts are paid, I give, devise and bequeath (in trust) to my loving wife Hannah Whaley, and my son Eli Whaley to belong to them jointly for the sole purpose of raising and educating my small children. And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint the aforesaid Hannah Whaley and Eli Whaley jointly executrix and executor of this my last will and testament, ratifying and confirming this and this only to be my last will and nullifying all other will or testaments by me heretofore made. Mary "Polly" WHALEY, born 1 Mar 1771, Georgia. Also known as the "Widow" Mary JONES. Mary married James JONES. (See Chaper 3) 3. Eli C. WHALEY, born 16 Oct 1774, Georgia. He died Dec 1855, Hancock County, Georgia. Buried in Walton County, Georgia. Eli married Elizabeth GRACE. 4. Rhoda WHALEY, born 27 Feb 1776, Georgia. Rhoda married ___?___ HENNING. 5. Martha "Patsy" WHALEY, born 25 Feb 1778, Georgia. Patsy married John ATKINS. (See Chapter 4) 6. Hannah WHALEY, born 27 Oct 1780, Georgia. Hannah married ___?___ EVINS. 7. William WHALEY, Jr, born 11 Jan 1783, Georgia. He died 1844, Fayette County, Georgia. William married Elizabeth LACKEY. 8. Samuel WHALEY, born 15 Nov 1784, Georgia. He died 1847-49, Georgia. Samuel married Miriam KELLY 11 Nov 1812, Hancock County, Georgia. 9. Isaac WHALEY, born 15 Apr 1787, Georgia. He died between 1870 and 1880 census, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Isaac married 1st Judy HARRIS 31 Aug 1809, Morgan County, Georgia. Isaac married 2nd Sarah BERRY 7 Jan 1840, Henry County, Georgia. Isaac married 3rd Harriett RABURN 18 Jul 184, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. 10. Daniel WHALEY, born 26 Feb 1789, Georgia. Daniel married ___?___ BOWIE. 11. Elizabeth "Betsy" WHALEY, born 28 Mar 1791, Georgia. Betsey married Thomas J. MORRIS. Hessey married John PEPPER about 1786. John was born 1770, Pennsylvania. He died before Dec 1854, Walton County, Georgia. In 1820, the census shows John PEPPER living in Gwinnett County, Georgia. 1 male and 1 female over 45; 1 male 16-25; 1 male 16-18; 1 male and 1 female 10-16. In 1830, the census shows John PEPPER living in Walton County, Georgia. 1 male 60-69; 1 female 50-59; 1 male 15-19; 1 male and 1 female 10-14. (Note: They lived next to a William PARKER. Possibly where the name of their son came from.) In John's will, he left his property to his wife Esther. He also provided for one of his granddaughters, Mariah, who he and Hessey had raised as their own. At Hessey's death, everything was divided among the children, or the grandchildren, in the case where the child was deceased. Their granddaughter Nancy SIMS, daughter of Kelley PEPPER, who was deceased, married Clayborne SIMS, who represented Kelley's children in the estate. On 19 Oct 1850, the census shows John, Sr. (80) and Hessa (80) PEPPERS living in Walton County, Georgia. With them was Polly age 18; Adeline age 7; and Caroline age 4. Adeline and Caroline were Mulatto. John was a farmer. His real estate was valued at $600.00. On 28 Jul 1860, the census shows Hessa PEPPER age 94, living in Walton County, Georgia. With her was her granddaughter, Mary A. age 30 (this was Mariah). Also with her were four mulatoo children Nancy age 19; Caroline age 13; William age 3; and Mary age 1. Nancy could possibly be Adeline, who is in the 1850 census with them. In 1880, she is in Jackson County, Georgia with a daughter Ellen. Children of John and Esther (WHALEY) PEPPER: 1. Parker PEPPER, born about 1790. Parker married 1st Nancy HASTELL. Parker married 2nd Matilda ___?___ . 2. Nancy PEPPER, born about 1794/95, Georgia. Nancy married Tillman McDONALD. 3. Mary "Polly" PEPPER, born Dec 1795, Georgia. Polly married Airs CONANT. (This is my branch of the Pepper family.) 4. Elizabeth PEPPER, born 1800/01, Georgia. Elizabeth married Nathan FOWLER. 5. Sunsberry PEPPER, born 1804, Georgia. Sunsberry married Phoebee JENKINS. 6. Kelley PEPPER, born 1804/05, Georgia. Kelley married Sarah HASTELL. 7. Martha PEPPER, born about 1805, Georgia.
