Well said and well done, Miss Ruby. You should have done that before. That lends even more credibility to the Georgia Whaley research. I'm sorry my message on the board turned into such a fracas. It was obvious that there were two conversations going on --- one on the message boards and one on our list. Because of the structure of the boards and lists (the gateway), we could "hear" their conversation but they couldn't "hear" ours. Since I feel this is such an important topic in the Whaley family, I felt that something should be said to lead those on the message boards to our "side" of the story, so I gave "directions" on how to find the mailing list archives. Mr. Frakes' message and detailed family history of William and Hannah made statements of fact but gave no sources or documentation. I knew some of those "statements" were questionable and readers should be advised to take it with a word of caution. I had stumbled across that family tree (Round, Cropper, etc.) many years ago on one of the Web sites at Rootsweb. As you said, things "fit" in Hannah's family background, but a little too conveniently. And the paper in Georgia that stated she was "nee Brewton," meaning she was born with that name, sort of put the lid on things and tossed the "Round" theory out the window. (I still think we should investigate the "Brattens" of Maryland.) However, I don't have the documents and did not do the research. You and Jackie did. Therefore, I felt it was up to you to defend Hannah's ancestry and, as you said, tell the story of "the gutsy lady who deserves to be written in history the correct way." I have a copy of the Early Georgia Whaleys and I KNOW it is well documented with references to hundreds of official records. If something is mentioned which is not fact, it is plainly stated that it is just theory, and it is clearly shown how that theory comes into play with the facts and evidence. It is one of the best one-family history books I have ever seen ...so good that I bought my cousin one for her birthday years ago. She raved about what a good reference book it was. I, too, want to know if the "Part 2" you mentioned is something new. If so, I definitely want it. Please contact me privately if more has been added to the Georgia Whaleys and I need to purchase an addendum. Again, thank you, Ruby, for taking the time to state the facts. Judy K. in Newnan, GA
