I am taking a consensus on the probablity of having one Whaley from each family line giving a DNA sample for the effect of establishing a credible Whaley' DNA project. The goal of the project would be to create a global Whaley family tree. By doing this we can use the research each one of our families have accomplished to compare and contrast our heritage with the DNA. That way we can see how each of us truly relate and possibly break through some of those brick walls that I know almost all of us have hit. Who knows if we can get some Whaleys from over the pond in the U.K. and Ireland we can make the appropriate connections and delve our rich family history back even further. 3. What I plan is to all use the same DNA project website so that the DNA will be able to tell us how we all relate with one another. Once we discover exactly how each of the lines relate with one another we begin to create a broad family tree that shows how all of the familys are connected. Once we have that any of the holes we have in our line may be able to be filled in by answers from another line that we didnt know we shared so closely. Some of us may be looking for some of the same relatives even... On 11/28/06, Linda Boehme <lboehme@pacbell.net> wrote: > > Justin, > > I Think this would be great. 3. Justin, it sounds fascinating, even though I'm not a qualified candidate. As I understand it, the tests are only useful for a male descended through a male line, and I'm the daughter of a female Whaley. I have two living cousins who qualify, and I emailed them a while back to see if they were interested and got no reply. My mother's father was a Whaley, and the cousins I mentioned are sons of her two brothers 9now deceased). Nevertheless, I am still very interested because of the "brick wall" in my Whaley research. I've never been able to positively identify my greatgrandfather.
