    1. James Ratliff Whaley and Tabitha Avery-Gene Hardy Whaley
    2. >From Jackie Weeden-- We appreciate your effort in trying to prove that Edward Whaley and Elizabeth Caldwell are the parents of your James Ratliff Whaley. The two different marriage dates on record (1803 and 1830) show there is an error, probably someone transposing the 1803 to 1830. The prime source would be the handwritten record on film at LDS for Greene Co marriages from 1800 to 1840. The 50 mile trip to Ozark AL where James R. died would be worth a trip. Go a day when the courthouse is open and get a copy of his death certificate. Since he d 1924 there should be one there. Or check the library for an obituary in some old newspaper. And please go to the Asbury cemetery and write down what the Whaley stones say. Perhaps if he had siblings, they might also be buried near there. (His obituary should name siblings and parents.) You keep mentioning Dothan, AL. Evidently you live near there. Ruby has Whaley cousins there--Emma Whaley Dean, Edward R., Verdie Lee Black, Eva Lundie Riddle and John W., children of Lester Whaley and Onnie L. Hildreth. (Desc Please let us know your results.

    2. George Whaley
    3. Does anyone recognize the Whaley that Gerald is searching for? George - ----------------------------------------- Subject: John Whaley Date: Thu, 07 Oct 1999 20:40:55 -0600 From: Gerald Whaley <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I don't know if you are part of rootsweb or not but I need a little assistance.I subscribe to the Whaley group so any messages I could receive there. I am trying to locate a Whaley, either from New York State or Canada who married a woman with the name Parshall, Pearisol, Perisall. It appears my G.Grand Father Born Dec 17,1833 was conscripted into the Civil War. He deserted and fled to Canada where he married my G.Grandmother in Wolf Island Ontario on Oct 10,1865. When he fled the U.S. he assumed the last name of his Brother-in-Law a Whaley. If we can find a Whaley who had married a woman with a name similar to parshall, pearisol, etc his wife's maiden name will be my G.Grandfathers true last name. Any assistance you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Gerald Whaley

    1. Whaley references again
    2. I found this book at the Bob Jones University's Margaret Mack Library in Greenville, SC. In can be checked out. The other Whaley/Goffe references, I previously sent to this list (Whaley references Sept. 26, 1999 and More Whaley references Sept. 27, 1999), also came from the same library and are from the reference section. They have many historical books concerning the Civil War and the Revolution as well. They have a copy of Dyers Compendium of the Civil War. It has a picture of Thomas Cromwell, the Founder of the Registers. I listed it in a previous Whaley reference email to this list (Whaley references Sept. 26, 1999).
