I am new to this list. I have finally worked my way toward my Scotland roots to research my great-grandfather. I have some family history which states he was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to George Bridges and Sarah Elizabeth, maiden name unknown, Bridges. They may have married around 1837-1846 in Glasgow. My great-grandfather was born on 10 January 1847. I estimate his parents may have born in the 1817-1827 time frame in Scotland. Tom Bridges came to America with a dance troup from New York and may have been a stow away. He found his way to Alabama around 1876-1878, where he married a girl who was born in Alabama. They married in Escambia/Conecuh County Alabama in 1878. Very little family information exists on Thomas "Tom" Bridges. He named his sons: Jesse born 1882, Thomas born 1888, Robert born 1890 and Edward born 1894. He had two daughters named: Nancy Catherine and Sarah Elizabeth. Tom Bridges' parents: George and Sarah Elizabeth Bridges reportedly owned a dairy farm. I would appreciate any information on the Bridges surname or tips on how I can research my Scotland ancestors. Thank you. Sara in Texas sfharms@mindspring.com
