Hi Beryl, Thanks for the info on New Register House and book on Scottish ancestry. No, unfortunately I cannot make it to Scotland right now however, I was in Edinburgh in '97 and walked the Princess St. you mention. Wish I knew then what I do now about tracing genealogy roots. There we were in Scotland (on our own, trying to drive on the wrong side of the road in a stick-shift gear car with the driver also on the opposite side of the car) and all we had to go by was "Our ggg-grandfather's name was Henry MCKINNEY (b1745) and we're trying to find out anything we can", hee hee hee. Oh well, a lesson learned. Next time I will be more prepared. I will read the book you recommend. Again thanks and happy researching.
