    3. Hi Susan, From where I'm sitting I can look out ofmy window and see Calderbraes, Uddingston (except it's dark just now!) about 3/4 of a mile away. I'm a bit puzzled by the document which you state lists Appin Argyllshire in Bothwell, Lanarkshire. This can't be: They're about 130 miles apart: Appin north of Oban and Bothwell east of Glasgow. The place name you can't make out is Fasnacloich, which is a very small hamlet in Glen Creran about a mile inland from the head of Loch Creran, which is a loch on the east side of Loch Linnhe about 20 miles north of Oban. One of the James Bond movies had its opening sequence shot at the narrows of Loch Creran where a helicopter is following a car along the lochside road. I know the area very well: It was a favourite camping spot for years. The area is unbelievably beautiful , especially towards the end of May when the gorse blooms bright yellow against the most vivid green of the new grass and leaves. A sawyer was simply someone who sawed wood, either in timber felling, or the dressing/cutting of felled timber. I hope this helps, regards, Ken Mathieson, Uddingston, Lanarkshire -----Original Message----- From: Chip & Susan Belyea <rbelyea@shentel.net> To: WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com <WGW-SURNAMES-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Date: 16 April 2001 23:43 Subject: Re: info >Gosh, I think that you have found my ancestors!
