No doubt the middle name of Pringle came from another family name, possibly the mother's maiden name. While I am not sure there is any connection to my Pringles, because of location (PA) and date of arrival in this country (late 1860's), it would be interesting to discover. Later female children and grandchildren of this woman were were given the frist name of Pringle. She is not a direct ancestor of mine, as Mathew D. Mackie remarried a Mary Elizabeth HUGHES and had seven more children with her in PA and Illinois.
