Hello Betty Argyll is a county and I don't think there is a town of Carmichael anywhere in Scotland. I think your Carmichael ancestor would have lived on the Estate of the Earl of Breadalbane. Dear Kay Liney, Thank you for the info. Every little bit helps. After reading your note I am now thinking that the Carmichael who wrote the letter was misinformed abt. our WM. Carmichael being an Earl of Breadalbane Castle before coming to N.E. Eng. Perhaps he was from that area. I am sorry I do not have a map of Sct. as yet. Can you tell me if Argyll is a county and is the town of CARMICHAEL in the Breadalbane area? With the little info. I have, I think my ancestors came from Sct. to Newcastle, Eng. in the 1600`s. Thanks for helping, Regards, Betty C.P.SunCity Fl.
